Tile and Grout Repair
There is more to having nice tile and grout than just keeping it clean. Unfortunately, tile and grout can sometimes be damaged, cracked, or broken. In these cases, it needs to be repaired by a professional.
While you might be able to temporarily repair your tile and grout with a DIY process, these options are not lasting solutions. We encourage you to use DIY fixes when you need a quick fix; just be aware that at some point you should plan to have professional repairs completed on the affected area.
What is a Tile and Grout Repair?
Repairing your tile and grout might not always be specific to a crack or crumbling grout. Repairs could also be ridding your tiles of discoloration or stained grout that simply won’t go back to its original color with any amount of cleaning.
Over time, tile and grout can age and discolor. This is particularly true of grout. Thankfully, there are solutions for that.
Tile and grout repair refers to fixing any abnormalities with your tile and grout that can’t be fixed with basic cleaning. We do offer professional tile and grout cleaning, but this is a separate service.
Types of Tile and Grout Repair.
You may go several years without needing tile and grout repair, or you might find that you need frequent repairs. Some of this could be related to the craftsmanship of whoever laid your tile. However, it’s also possible that your home will move and shift over time and this can lead to cracks as well.
Sometimes, just applying too much pressure in the wrong way can lead to a chip or a crack, and then you have to fix that problem.

Why Get Tile and Grout Repaired?
If you have a crack or crumbling grout and just ignore it, that problem can quickly become a much larger issue.
You will find that once one area starts to crack or crumble, this could spread to other areas. What happens is that one area becomes loosened and insecure because of the broken parts of the system.
If you take care of minor repairs like this in a timely manner, it just might save you from having to deal with major repairs down the road.
If you find yourself currently facing major repairs, let’s get them fixed before they do get any worse and you have to replace the entire floor!
Tips for Temporary Repairs.
If you need to make a temporary repair to your tile, that is acceptable. Making a temporary repair might help prevent a crack from spreading further until you can get a professional repair in place.
If your repair is minimal, this might be able to tide you over until further repair is needed. We want you to be aware that most DIY tile and grout repair options are meant to be effective but temporary, so keep this in mind. Don’t rely on this to be a permanent solution.
If you need to make a temporary repair to your tile, you can use a little bit of caulk to fill in the crack. Once you’ve got it filled, you should use a spoon or something similar to gently flatten it out so it’s not bulky on the surface. Leave the caulk to cure for at least a couple of days. If you need to, you can paint it after this with a color that blends to your tile.
Remember this is just a temporary fix. It will help keep the crack from spreading for a short period of time or being unsightly until you can get us there to help make a full repair for you.
Crumbling grout will need to be scraped out and reapplied to take care of the issue.
